About Al-Madina Institute

Al-Madina Institute was founded in 2009 with a clear vision to build a masjid and community space that serves both faith and society. The journey began when Maulana Nabeel Afzal established Coventry’s first youth led Al-Madina Centre, which quickly became a positive and active hub for the local community.

Raised in a religious family and inspired by his grandfather, Maulana Nabeel Afzal dedicated himself to serving the community. Over the years, the institute has achieved many milestones, including reviving the Mawlid Procession in Coventry after 16 years.

Today, Al-Madina Institute operates from a purpose built 16,000 square foot facility with classrooms, a library, kitchen, mortuary, dedicated space for women, and a live streaming studio, all supporting its mission to educate, unite, and serve.
